Using CapSpark

CapSpark is a captioning app operated by Lucent Interactive Inc. By using the app or website, you agree to these terms. The app lets you generate, edit, style and export captions for your videos. This website provides product information and support.

Your use of the iOS app is also subject to the applicable App Store terms and the license supplied with the app. Apple's standard app license agreement applies where no custom license is provided.

Your account and content

Keep your account credentials secure and provide accurate account information. Only use video, audio and other content you have permission to process and share.

You retain ownership of your content. You allow us and our service providers to process it as needed to provide the captioning service, as described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for the content you create and share.

Review before you share

Automatic transcription can make mistakes. Check the words, timing and final video before sharing it. Keep copies of your original footage and any exports you want to retain; the app's captioning workflow is not a backup service for your original videos.

Subscriptions and purchases

Purchases in CapSpark are processed through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Prices, billing periods, included features and any limits or offers are shown in the app and Apple's purchase confirmation before you buy. This website does not take payments.

Auto-renewing subscriptions renew unless canceled through Apple. Your Apple subscription settings show renewal or expiration information. Cancellation and refund requests follow Apple's applicable processes; see our Refunds & Cancellation page. Deleting CapSpark or your account does not cancel your subscription.

The free editor and CapSpark Pro

The CapSpark video editor is free. Editing, adding captions by hand and exporting do not require a subscription, exports carry no watermark, and your saved projects do not expire.

CapSpark Pro adds AI captioning and AI caption translation. Pro is offered with weekly, monthly or yearly billing, and every billing option includes the same features. AI captioning works on videos up to 60 minutes each; longer videos can still be edited, captioned by hand and exported. If your subscription ends, you keep your projects and captions and can keep editing and exporting for free.

Free trial

New subscribers may be eligible for a free trial through Apple's introductory offer, once per Apple ID across all Pro billing options. The trial includes unlimited AI captioning, subject to fair use, on videos of up to 60 minutes each. Unlimited AI captioning continues with your first paid billing period.

Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, Apple charges the price shown for the plan you selected, and the subscription renews automatically until canceled.

Fair use of unlimited AI captioning

CapSpark Pro includes unlimited AI captioning for normal personal and professional use, subject to fair use. To keep captioning fast and affordable for everyone, we monitor the processing volume of each account. If an account's volume is unusually high or appears automated, new AI captioning may be paused temporarily. Fair-use limits are lower during a free trial. Videos already processing still finish, and editing, exporting and saved projects are never affected.

Automated, bulk or resale processing is not normal use, and we may restrict it under Acceptable use below.

Acceptable use

Do not use CapSpark for unlawful content, infringement of others' rights, unauthorized access, abuse of service limits or interference with the service. We may restrict access when reasonably necessary to address misuse or protect the service.

Availability and your rights

Features may change, and we cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free service. An internet connection is needed for account services and caption generation. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies you have under applicable consumer law.
